iPod classic internals overheating, may be causing connection issues?

I have an iPod classic 5th or 6th generation (unable to check since it no longer connects to my MacBook, need to check on a PC). I had issues with it not connecting to Music, so I browsed around to see similar issues. I wanted to check the hard drive (since maybe it had corrupted) and put it in diagnostic mode. 0 reallocations, 0 pending sectors, BUT min/max temp is very concerning. Min temp is 61c, max is 245c. I read another users guide on establishing if the iPod is corrupted, and I saw his min temp was 0c and max was 50c. Any fixes for this? or is it a lost cause?
