I can never get a fully clear picture. Only a small portion of the photo I’m trying to take will be in focus while the rest is blurry. I’ve turned macro lens on and off testing if that’s the issue, but it doesn’t change the problem. It’s been like this since I got it on 9/24.

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 18
I've had an iPhone 16 Pro for a month or so. Everything with the 5x camera, photo, macro and video is soft focus. This is very disappointing.

Just restart iPhone. No other settings, modifications, etc.
You’ve posted in both front camera and rear camera blur. Which camera is giving you issues?
Thank you for pointing out, my issue is on the primary lens 1x.
I didn't know there was a problem with the front camera too (which I use very rarely)
You’re photographing non-flat subjects. Lens tests at close distances are always photographed using flat subjects. Those tests show nothing, sorry.

Please post an example screenshot with the information showing so I can see what you’re doing.
Both you examples are fusion camera. If you shoot iPhone 16 in fusion your iPhone 16 Pro will be different and require different techniques.
You can approach it two ways. Is it more important to look good taking pictures or take good looking pictures?

Thank you for the clarification. The blurry pictures of the book page were produced from enough distance for the 1x lens though (no macro mode and checked in the image data).
Same on my 16 pro. My son’s 13 pro is perfect. Looks as if the lens is “decentered”.
