Dictation Turning Off After One Minute

I need to use dictation on my iMac but it keeps cutting out. Troubleshooting, I timed it and it cuts out after exactly one minute of the microphone being activated, regardless of how much dictation I've put in, so it's a timed cut-out. I'm running Monterey 12.7 and can't upgrade because some of the softwares I use won't be compatible with anything later. What can I do to keep this from happening?
