How to automatically number rows in Pages tables?

When working with tables in Pages, it can be very useful to put numbers on rows, for example for analysing interviews. Creating a first column to the left in the table is a logical space to put consecutive numbers on rows. Is it possible to generate numbering automatically?

Hi Idar,

Method 1.

Enter the first two numbers. select both cells. Hover the cursor over the bottom of the selection until you see the yellow dot (the Fill Handle).

Drag the yellow dot down to automatically extend the sequence.

Those numbers will remain, even if you sort the table.

Method 2.

Use a formula and fill down.

A2+1

That formula will recalculate if you sort the table.

Regards,

Ian.
