gmail freezing because of gemini

I have an old iMac that runs on 10.11.6.

I have been using gmail for years with no issues.

In the past few days, when I open gmail I get a window “Collaborate with Gemini in Gmail” with buttons to “Learn more” or “Got it”. But neither button works - nor can I go further in gmail.

How do I resolve this issue please?
