Epson SureColor P800 not printing the right colors

I have the same issue with the P800 and excessive magenta whether the print command is sent from a 2019 iMac or an M1 MacBook Pro. I've hesitated to post an online query because I've noted, as you have experienced, a query gets questions and "answers" that are often guesswork and don't really resolve the issue. I contacted an Epson service site that told me the issue is in the Mac OS and I might have to wait for another upgrade. Oh well, threre's alway BayPhoto!!!

Have you tried printing from any other app (Preview, Photos, etc.)?

Have you had any recent Adobe "updates"?

Do you have any updates on this? I just updated my mac OS and I am now receiving the same problem. All images (even with the correct ICC profile) are printing with a very strong magenta hue.

You have a maximum of 15 minutes to edit a post.

If it's not a problem with the printer itself, (does it have a self test?)

Then I'd suspect the MacOS, but...

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

I'd reinstall the OS after doing this...

In Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.

Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.

Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?

Update Sonoma to 14.7. Do you have the Epson Software Updater v2.6.3 installed and have you run it to ensure that you have the latest Epson updates for this device?

The last Epson printer driver released for this device on macOS Sonoma was shown on the P800 support page to be from Oct 11, 2023. That is not encouraging for keeping up with macOS Sonoma updates in the last year. Epson shows no additional ICC profiles for this device on macOS 14 than what was installed by the printer driver.

If you change that Color Handling from Photoshop manages colors to another setting does that improve or further degrade the printing result? Are you current with Photoshop on Sonoma 14.7?

There have been countless retorts in these communities over the years that the user has the latest version of Adobe Software and when they check again, it has been updated. So the term latest is a fleeting concept…

With a tip from a local professional print shop and an Epson support person I found the solution to wild magentas on my Epson P800 prints. Both people said that the problem is with Adobe software. One, in fact, said to not allow Adobe to control the colors. Bypass the icc profiles etc and allow the printer to manage color, whether from Lightroom or Photoshop. Best wishes.
