Phone condition is subjective when you get an estimate for the trade in value and the final amount can only be determined after it has been evaluated. When the phone is taken to an Apple Store instead of mailing it in, you will get the actual price immediately.

I’m reading this that you bought a 15 before the 16 came out and now the 15 costs less. If you bought it from Apple, you will not get a refund of the difference. This is standard procedure for Apple when a new phone is released, did you not know it?

And if the offered trade-in value is lower than you wish to accept, you can always reject their offer. They will send the old iPhone back to you and you can try to sell it yourself.
