iPhone 16 Pro not turning on

My wife’s iPhone 16 Pro is not turning on. Several times I have had to push the top volume, bottom volume and then hold the right power button until the Apple came on. And it took much longer than 10 seconds and instead of it coming on by itself, the Apple would show only after I held and released the power button. Did she get a lemon or are others having this problem? She gets a new phone every year so this is not an operator error.

Bought two new iPhone 16 Plus. Did update to iOS 18.0.1. When one phone was turned off and charged overnight, it would not turn on this morning. So far I am trying the force restart multiple times and I have plugged it into a different charger no beeps. Also I plugged it into my MacBook and no beep and not showing up on Finder. This is bad. This has never happened with multiple iPhones over the last several years. Phone $1000 and it does not work after a few days. Ugh. Afraid to shut down the other phone and fear that it will also not be able to be turned down.

iPhone 16 pro Max here. This happened to me this morning. I usually switch it off and charge at night. Took me about 10 minutes in frustration to finally get it switched on. Had to force start 3 times.

I’m really hoping this is a bug and will be fixed in the next software update and not my phone. These things ain’t cheap 😅

Same here. The only thing tech support told me is to reduce the battery charging to 80% and therefore not able to use optimized battery charging. Also to only use the supplied USB-C cable NOT the Apple MagSafe I have used for years and try that….either way it’s not good! As you say these are expensive phones.

looks like you have the opposite problem to me. Mine charges on both but if I use the wireless I have to do the vol up/down reset…and at that very slow to start. Also can’t charge to 100% or I also need to do reset start. Hopefully Apple is reading these posts and working on a fix….seems like a spreading problem!

So I have had this problem since day 1…but only when I use an apple OEM MagSafe and the phone is set to charge over 80%. When it won’t start I have to do volume up volume down and side button (hold until the apple logo comes on). It works normally charging on USB-C (although have not tried at 100%, only charging to 80% or 90%). I works on a third party wireless charger (although when set to 90% it charged to 100%!). I have spoken with apple support both level 1 and subsequently level 2 supervisor and the only answer they have is use the USB-c provided and do not set over 80%. My opinion is this is a glitch and apple has yet to figure out a fix. I am lucky in that I have always managed to reset and get it operational…it’s disappointing that Apple hasn’t yet stated they are working on the problem and indicated it will be covered if hardware or corrected by a future update. Last note…all the chargers and cables I have used work fine on my wife’s 13 mini and worked great for years on my 13 pro.

Quickly press volume up then volume down then press and hold side button until the apple logo comes up…then release. If that doesn’t work do the same thing plugged in with the USB-C charger. That is straight from Apple tech support….the. As a safeguard set the charge to less than 100% before charging next time.
