My wife’s iPhone 16 Pro is not turning on. Several times I have had to push the top volume, bottom volume and then hold the right power button until the Apple came on. And it took much longer than 10 seconds and instead of it coming on by itself, the Apple would show only after I held and released the power button. Did she get a lemon or are others having this problem? She gets a new phone every year so this is not an operator error.

Bought two new iPhone 16 Plus. Did update to iOS 18.0.1. When one phone was turned off and charged overnight, it would not turn on this morning. So far I am trying the force restart multiple times and I have plugged it into a different charger no beeps. Also I plugged it into my MacBook and no beep and not showing up on Finder. This is bad. This has never happened with multiple iPhones over the last several years. Phone $1000 and it does not work after a few days. Ugh. Afraid to shut down the other phone and fear that it will also not be able to be turned down.
My NEW iphone 16 has had issues turning on as well. I've had to force restart (vol up vol dn, press and hold power button for 10 + sec) several times to finally turn on. 100% charge. First time I've ever had this issue with any iphone through the years. Initially, I thought that it was a power cord or charging pod and that the phone had no power. But now that I have read these comments I'm thinking that it's a manufacturing issue. Hopefully it's a software correction Apple can make in the near future and not a hardware issue. This happened to me repeatedly. Three times. Spaced out by about five or six days apart. It started about a week and a half after I got the phone in Early Sept as a preorder. I happen to have an Apple Store near me so first I used a chat help. They gave me the hard reset solution. First time it took about 12 or 13 tries. Second time took over 50. Third time I did it for about 45 minutes on and off. I think it took in excess of 100 times maybe 150 times. But it did come on. I brought it back to the Apple Store and they told me that I had to delete everything and reinstall the software in order for them to determine if it was hardware or a software problem. This I did and it reoccurred. I went back to Apple Store got a replacement 16 Pro and after a nightmare losing I my phone number for a day with T mobile not able to sort out how to fix it, due to the terrible tech I got from Apple. now I have my phone working again. I’ll let you know if the problem occurs. But I had to go to the Apple Store and get a new iPhone 16 Pro.
Same thing just happened to me today - the iPhone 16 PRO won't switch on no matter how long I keep the right button pressed - The battery was probably around 80% when it happened - Anyone at APPLE can pick this up? Thank God I had a space old iPhone 12 Pro in my bag which I am now using but this is extremely disappointing for a device worth 1,500 USD!
Happening to me for the first time with a 16 Pro I've had since October -- force restarting (tap volume up, tap volume down, hold power button) doesn't seem to work no matter how long I hold the buttons -- the phone turned off when it ran out of charge and it doesn't seem to be charging with either the original apple usbc charger with original apple wall plug, nor my macbook's USBC charger nor its magsafe charger, macbook doesn't recognize the phone, it just seems for all intents and purposes to be dead...
Mine does it and I don’t even turn it off or let it die. That is not the issue, you turning it off. My phone will be fully charged and unplugged and on when I go to sleep and wake up to a brick. When I finally get it to turn on? Still fully charged. I can’t stand apple for the things wrong with this phone. Do you have spotty touch screen issues too?
Same here! I have had every iPhone since 3GS and never experienced a power issue like this before.
Don’t turn your iPhone off when charging and the issue probably won’t happen again. This has been posted before and everyone one I’ve read the device was powered off over night.

My wife used to always turn her phone off at night for the last 14 iPhones she has had. Unless Apple either fixes this or even admits this is an issue, the problem does not occur if you do not turn your phone off and just do a force restart every week or so from an on position to clean things up. That is what I do with mine and have never had this issue. You can also try not having your phone charged at 100% when you turn it off and do not leave it plugged in at night. Your phone may not back up then and you will have to do a manual backup.
To me this is totally unacceptable especially since people at the Apple Store are BS ing their way around this either because they know the issue and there is no fix, or they do not have a clue about it. Just my 2 cents
I've had to experience this issue this morning, and I'm really surprised and dismayed, I've been a loyal Apple customer and had to use the forced restart process for half hour or so this issue needs to be rectified apple!
There could be lots of reasons to turn it off, that's not the point. The point is that it shouldn't be a struggle to turn it back on after it's been powered off. If you are so enamored by Apple's technology that you want to keep it on all the time based on their advice, go for it. But being able to power up your phone after it's been powered off is a basic function that should never be this complicated. It's a bug that needs to be fixed. Not understanding why this is so difficult to comprehend.

The operative word here is QUICKLY for the first two buttons; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.
This has also happened to me! I have tried numerous times and charges, even plugged it into my macbook pro, but nothing. I have only had it a week. Thinking I may change it to a 15!
Same happened to me. Got new Iphone 16 and it is stuck at hello screen, can't swipe up and can't turn it off. When does Apple become so worst. Very first experience with the new iphone is bad.
Set anyone you need to get through as a Favorite and even if Do Not Disturb is on, they'll get through to you.
my iPhone 16 has turned into a brick phone two times since I got it a week ago. Currently waiting to give it back and try another just as soon as the Mac store opens. This is getting old
