iPhone 16 Pro not turning on

My wife’s iPhone 16 Pro is not turning on. Several times I have had to push the top volume, bottom volume and then hold the right power button until the Apple came on. And it took much longer than 10 seconds and instead of it coming on by itself, the Apple would show only after I held and released the power button. Did she get a lemon or are others having this problem? She gets a new phone every year so this is not an operator error.

Bought two new iPhone 16 Plus. Did update to iOS 18.0.1. When one phone was turned off and charged overnight, it would not turn on this morning. So far I am trying the force restart multiple times and I have plugged it into a different charger no beeps. Also I plugged it into my MacBook and no beep and not showing up on Finder. This is bad. This has never happened with multiple iPhones over the last several years. Phone $1000 and it does not work after a few days. Ugh. Afraid to shut down the other phone and fear that it will also not be able to be turned down.

I had the problem with my 16 and now a week or so later my husband had the same problem this morning. It took him several times trying the hard reset before turning on. Apple needs to fix this. I took mine in to the Apple store when it wouldn’t go on and the lady there that fixed it didn’t mention the hard reset or that this is evidently a problem but acted more like I just didn’t hold the power button long enough, although I had the phone for 2 weeks with no problem turning it on. I really do know how to turn the phone on.

Come on Apple, fix it!

Thank you. I know that I’m not speaking to Apple here but was venting as to the issue. Glad you haven’t had the same issue with your phones that the many posters on here are experiencing.
The phones we have had the issue with are IPhone 16. Not the pro.

You're welcome. Have you updated your iPhone to iOS 18.1, which was released over a week ago?

No, I never turn my phone off at night. There's no reason to turn it off, with the exception of an occasional restart if needed. When I put my iPhone on its charger at night, it is fully powered on and connected to Wifi, so it will automatically backup to iCloud while I sleep. That is what Apple recommends.

Here is what Apple Store Genius Bar told us.

1- Do not turn the phone off at night

2- Do not leave it charging all night.

3- Either set optimizing charging to 80%, or turn off optimized charging but unplug it at night

1- Not turning it off at night obviously eliminates the problem since you do not have to turn it on.

2- Do not leave it charging at night keeps the phone from auto backing up

3- Has not been tried as a 100% charge is wanted. Since we get a new iPhone every year, battery health is not important to us over the long term

In my opinion, Apple has an issue since this was never an issue with prior models including the iPhone 15 Pro, and either does not have a fix. If what was told to us in the store is Apple's position, then they should put it in writing.

Well just got my son and iPhone 16 and had it for one day and it isn’t starting up! So frustrating brand new phone and so far the worst experience with this phone. Maybe a recall should be in the works. Seeing this happening to everyone with their iPhone 16 pro. Ugh .shouldn’t have gotten this new model . Very frustrated!

Well, I’ve got bad news for you. I had the same problem multiple times jump through 1 million hoops at the Apple Store had no end of problems getting my new phone started up again because they never did figure out what was wrong with the old phone but guess what? The new phone is exhibiting the same behaviour three weeks later I get up this morning phone will not turn on 50+ hard resets later it turns on. I’ve been an apple fan since the 1984 McIntosh commercial. And I am as depressed and saddened by the quality of the products created in China by the way by this company.

Adding my voice to the chorus. Only difference is mine restarted in about 1 minute, while plugged in. Same base circumstances. 16 base 2 weeks old. iOS 18.0.1

Then why haven't you updated to iOS 18.1.1, which was released more than a week ago, which also might help you>

My thought was that if enough of us make a stink apple might put some resources into solving this issue.

Making a stink here on this user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't read for feedback is kind of pointless. And assuming most people have such an issue is also not reality. I have two iPhone 16 Pro's (one Pro and an Pro Max) and I know many others who own an iPhone 16 Pro, and none, including me, have any issues.

The best solution for anyone who is having an issue, is to show their phone to Apple at the Genius Bar. Complaining here will really accomplish nothing.

Tech support agents never do nothing to give us a real fix. All they know is the reset mantra that never sorts out things.

I’m having issues with Spoken content and the Siri neural engine text to speech in my iPhone 11 after reinstalling iOS 18, I spoke with 3 agents and absolutely none of them were willing to help me. I speak Spanish as my native language and the voices that i’m having issues with are in Spanish, so the agent told me that nobody from the accessibility support speak Spanish, so he refuced to continue helping me.

If there are millions of iPhones around the world, I’m sure that a vast majority of them are having an issue, doesn’t matter if it’s hardware or software, and Apple never does nothing to correct them unfortunately

Please help me. I’ve tried everything. Yes, I did have it plugged in when I turned it off last night. I don’t think it was fully charged when I turned it off. Have only had it for a week. So glad I held on to the 13 max pro I told my dad I would give him. What about people who do not have Mac computers or computers at all?

I tried that and it didn't work. I think my phone has decided it no longer wishes to be a phone and instead is now a brick. I have an appointment at the genius bar in a little bit. Hopefully, they'll replace it because at this point, I don't think it will ever have life again.
