I also have a new HomePod mini
Why can’t I use the HomePod mini as a speaker anyway another Bluetooth speaker might work? Why is it? I cannot play audio unless it’s using strictly the music app on my HomePod?
Whose idea was this? This is not using Apple technology efficiently.
It is also not serving the user community efficiently
HomePod is not Bluetooth speaker, but base on Apple AirPlay technology. U can easy stream your music from each source app

If your device doesn't work as you expect you can always return it
It’s not a Bluetooth speaker. It can be used with Handoff or AirPlay and other apps besides the Music App can also work if they support AirPlay. You can also try transferring audio via control center.

if you use the iphones control centre and set the airplay speaker to being the homepod as active audio output source then it should play all sounds on the phone out of the speaker, unless apps active block it
you can use their feedback channels to inform them of that
I wouldn’t call it easy. I’m trying to stream something from Facebook and Instagram.
Apparently, they don’t support streaming or sharing audio with the HomePod
It was not intuitive and took trying 3 times but yes…. YouTube works. … let’s see if into does.
