Audio not working properly on external monitor

I just got a 2023 Mac mini and hooked it up to a sceptre f24 monitor (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXSR99Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) via hdmi I have installed monitor control from GitHub (https://github.com/MonitorControl/MonitorControl) and now it kind of works it plays audio full blast but I can't control the audio it just stays maxed when I check the monitor in audio settings the volume slider is greyed out but also maxed any idea how to fix it? I can add more information if needed

Mac mini, macOS 15.0

Thanks for the reply I am not able to control volume with the key combinations you provided my audio format is set to "2 ch 16-bit integer 32.0 kHz" I have attached a screenshot showing available formats for my monitor

I finally fixed it I thought id give an update for anyone else with this issue all I had to do was install better display () instead of MonitorControl

no the volume slider in control center is also greyed out and I don't have the headphones icon like in the screenshot I am also new to Mac I've been a lifelong windows user so for all I know it could be a very basic fix
