Why can't I import photos from my FUJIFILM XT-50 after the iOS 18 update?

Hi guys

after updating to iPadOS 18, iOS 18 and macOS 15 i can’t import pictures from my FUJIFILM XT-50 in the photos app. It seems like it is trying to connect to the camera but it “blinks”* a few times. I’ve tried with HIEF files on the camera and with only JPEGs, same result. I can get the camera to connect if there are no files on the camera, and I can import images with the Fuji app (HEIF and JPEG, RAW I guess to, but I almost never shoot RAW). It worked perfectly under the previous versions of OS, and I have tried multiple cables.

Anyone had a similar experience? Any work arounds?

*: the camera shows up under devices and disappears again.

I ran into the same issue with a Fujifilm X-T5! For now I use a USB-C SD Card reader to import the photos. Strangely I noticed that with my camera it’s able to import the jpegs fine, as long as all the photos are jpegs. However with heif it shows the same “blinking” on iOS and macOS and it’s unable to import any photos.
