I've had this computer about 3 weeks, I've only been using it for uni work and nothing else, I don't use it aggressively and I'm careful with it. I used it last night then put it on my desk, opened it again 10 minutes ago after being busy all day and the screen has smashed.

If it's a 2022 MacBook, then it's probably out of warranty anyway, in which case unless you have AppleCare+ on it which would cover accidental damage, it wouldn't be covered even if it was a defect. Sorry, but if you want the screen replaced, then absent an AppleCare+ policy this is something you'll need to pay for.
