after ios 18 everything is fine but when im typing in whatsapp and snapchat my spacebar and letters are laggy and bit unresponsive my mom has the same problem but in imessages typing is normal

I'm having this issue as well in things like Discord. It seems in every app, including the Messages app, the keyboard hitches and stutters. It seems clear to me, as a software engineer, that there is something being processed intermittently while typing.
I was experimenting and found that it seems to be better if you disable the "Show Math Results" option in General > Keyboard. I tried disabling other options like Predictive Text and Show Predictions Inline but didn't find that made much a difference, the main one that seemed to help was disabling "Show Math Results."
I think this is meant to be a new feature but isn't working as well as they'd hoped.

exactly me my mom and brother have the same issue me and my mom have the ip15 pro and brother has ip11 in imessages its normal but in snapchat whatsapp discord and some others its laggy including the spacebar

my keyboard is lagging and working so slowly
apple pls could you fix this problem, sometimes it’s uncomfortable to type and working with that
guys i just might have found a way to fix the glitch at least it works for me go to settings general and keyboard then disable auto correction show math results check spelling smart punctuation and shortcut it worked for me hope this helps you guys if not then we just need to wait for next apple update 18.0.1 i think they will fix this in this update coming maybe next week at monday tuesday or thursday the update will roll out.

Sounds like the wrong language keyboard active, maybe clutch? Check your settings / general / keyboard / keyboards and remove anything other than English
i was able to finally replicate this. it has to do with some emojis in predictive i think, which is odd because even with predictive off it does it. but for example i typed bee, and hit space, typing as fast as i always do. there is a clear distinct lag when you hit space and that's what's making typing choppy. it has to be something with the emojis. i've reset keyboard dictionary, i've turned predictive on and off, and i was able to replicate this on both my 15 pro max and 16 pro max! just type bee and keep typing fast anything after that, and you might notice the lag. its not every emoji though which is odd!!!! but bee was one of them lol btw i'm on 18.0.1 and it still does it. "phones" just did it as well, as it was populating all the phone emojis. but then i turned predictive off, did both, and it still lagged. so confusing, but i think it has to do with that.

i just deleted the emoji keyboard and the word bee still triggers the lag. so i don't know what's going on.

yep the keyboard is awful in iOS18. nothing but lag all day long on my 14 pro max and 15 pro max. disgusting.
