How long does it take to update ios18 to a brand new iPhone 14? On the initial setting up of this phone, transferring from an iphone12, it’s taking HOURS. Is this to be expected?

Updating to iOS 18 on a brand new iPhone 14 typically takes around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your internet speed and the size of the update. You can also check the reference to see how to shorten update time.

It took me about a half hour
It depends on how much data on the old iPhone 12. Leave it alone at night.
Setting up this new iphone14 I’d been transferring data via my old iphone12. This was when ios18 wouldn’t install. I reset everything, started again, this time used iCloud and hey presto it worked a miracle……ios18 was installed within half an hour. Delighted!
I tried three times transferring from my old iPhone 12 but it stuck each time when I got to the bit where ios18 was being put on. Then I went back to square one again and transferred via iCloud (and not my old phone) and it all worked perfectly. The ios18 part only took about half an hour!
Thanks for this. UGoodness! Well in the process of setting up this brand new iphone14 I’ve had both phones plugged in, Bluetooth, WiFi on etc and waited 24hours. I’ve now cancelled the installation and reset it, but find myself back at square one. Can’t see what I’m doing wrong, but if it hasn’t completed within the next hour or so I’ll be sending the phone back to O2. Really disappointed!
