After upgraded to iOS 18, I found that search function was missing for Photo Albums. And the search function in iOS 18 Photos wasn’t able to search for the Photo album name. How to resolve this ?
It’s pretty clear that Apple hired 10-year-old to write iOS 18 and they didn’t test anything. as a longtime iPhone user, I will say without any hesitation whatsoever that this is the absolute worst version of iOS to have ever been released.
Yes. It’s bloody horrible. I’m looking for a third party App for my photos. They can’t be any worse. Why does Apple always have to stuff thing up when they are working well. If it ain’t broke leave it alone.
Mine ended up taking 3 to 4 days to completely índex (?)
At first it would find only a few albums, the next day it would find more, but not in any order I could discern, though it did seem to index the albums with real word names before the ones named with my shorthand.
Since then it has worked fine and can find every album
if you have a massive amount of albums it may just take a while?
First time leaving anything in forums. This is by far the WORST iPhone update ever! Like most the iPhone has replaced my camera and I had all my photos in albums and folders neatly labeled. Now they have disappeared, can’t delete pictures (they immediately reappear), can’t watch videos you just took, and pictures are grainy and won’t send most of the time. This needs to be fixed immediately! Go back to the previous update as far as the photos are concerned. I don’t have time to scroll thru 10,000 pictures to find the one picture I’m wanting to send.

The Search function in iOS 18 Photos is ALWAYS available which is an icon of a magnifying glass, but it is SIMPLY a keyword search. Inside the Photos Album, there is NO SEARCH function at all.
If you are LUCKY, you can find the photo in the photo albums using the keyword search function, but besides a general keyword search function, I also want to have a search function for Photo Albums. And this is what iOS 18 Photos lack of.
In iOS Photos 17, there is a search function to search for Photo Albums.
I figured it out. Don’t fret, Albums has not gone away. It’s just buried about 3 levels down in the photo/ camera app.
It took me 10 minutes, but you can reorganize photo/camera to list albums in an easily accessible location.
Here’s how to do it.
1) Open Photo App
2) Click on image in lower left corner
3) Click on “All Photos” in upper right corner
4) Click on “X” in lower right corner
5) Scroll all the way to the bottom and click “Customize and Reorder”.
6) Click on the 3 bars to the right of Albums and drag it to the top and then click “X”.
7) Now when you open the Photo or Camera app scroll up slightly and you’ll see your albums.

Update with 18.1.1 and I’m not able to search by date. I get a message “Photos is analyzing your library to provide accurate search results”. A simple search by year yields nothing. Beyond frustrating.
Same here! I have a LOT of photo albums because I take a lot of pictures! I loved being able to do a search and have my photo albums show up. I am VERY disappointed by this change!
if I could at least sort my albums alphabetically, but I can’t even do that!

I couldn’t agree more with this thread. This must be fixed. Not being able to search for an album name on the albums tab is unacceptable. Spent years organizing photos by albums and can’t believe this is no longer an option? Before I could find photos from albums in seconds, now it is just a disaster searching for albums. Please fix this asap and make the photos app user friendly again!
I just got the Apple pro air for Christmas and didn’t days sorting my photos into albums only to discover I can’t search for them. I can’t believe that a sophisticated IT company like Apple does not have this basic search functionality. How pathetic! I need to be able to find folders for my sheet music and my art! They better get this functioning by the next update. This is ridiculous!
CraigG59, this sounds amazing! I’m going to try it! But before leaving to do so, I want to say, Thank you! (I probably won’t find my way back here, so I’ll speak up now). How baffling that posts expressing frustration vastly outnumber posts offering solutions. As one of the few who offer the latter, you deserve kudos for taking the time to share your discovery. Works for me
It's fairly easy to, just scroll down to pinned collections and tap modify . that will take you to this page where you can add albums . after that albums will be in pinned collections .
they cant withdraw a such a major utilty without prior notice
You need to rename your album (just add . for the last word) it really takes time but it work for me, i have like 500 hundreds of Album
