this 18 update really looking messed up. so inconvenient. is there any way to get back to the previous version. i miss my old version

And sometimes iOS updates just ***. A lot of people don’t like this one. It’s not about fearing change. This update isn’t an improvement for everyone, especially on older devices. Really unhelpful to say “get over it, or never try any new updates again.” Apple should make the old styles an option in their settings.

I guess, But I’m clicking on slideshow first on a video I like in a small folder, there is no option of having the videos audio only either muting it or having rubbish music over the top. I really liked the magazine style they had in the last update. It would zoom in on the person and have a nice fade into the next video but I guess they took that out.
It just seems like some changes are made just for the sake of making a change and don't necessarily improve the ease of use. When it makes something more complicated and time consuming to figure out then it is less user friendly for the average person. I get that changes are needed but sometimes it is just too much at one time and feels like we need a class to figure it all out again. Maybe I'm just getting too old for technology to be my friend. This update has ruined the phone visually and ruined the functionality of it. Can I go back to my pre-iOS 18 interface? Navigating photos is awful, the number on top of the on screen notifications is pointless and I simply don’t like it. I’ve used iPhone for years as they are simple and straightforward to use, this is the biggest advantage of the iPhone and they’ve taken it away. I am seriously considering moving to android unless they revert back to how things were laid out before.

plus: the Photo folder but most of all the data/wifi volume commands are SO SMALL and invisible

Apple won't see or read your complaint. What they will read is the feedback when using the appropriate link provided many times.

You cannot downgrade iOS. Erasing your phone will just erase the data and settings on it, but will not let you go back to a lower version of iOS.

This is a user to user forum. We had no access to your baby pictures even before they disappeared, and we have no way to give lost pictures back to you.
All that I can suggest is to check your Recently Deleted album, in case you accidentally deleted a bunch of pictures (without permanently deleting them) - which might allow you to recover them if you acted to do so before 30 days had passed.
Or to think of any place outside the system to which you might have copied or backed up the lost pictures.
I have checked, rechecked and checked my settings again. It’s not an issue with my settings. It’s something Apple did with the iOS 18 update. I’ve called Apple and have submitted a written complaint with Apple. And having my notifications announced is all good and fine but you can not reply when someone texts you a question. It’s a temporary fix, not a permanent one.

As I said, I'm offered the option to reply. It's not iOS 18. It has to be a setting somewhere you're missing. I'm not in my car, so I can't check it, but the next time you're in your car and using Apple CarPlay, I do remember a setting I needed to change. You have a CarPlay settings app in the CarPlay screen. It was something in Messages that I needed to change. I'm sorry I can't quite remember exactly what it was, but go there.

I was going to point out that another problem you're having is that the period key on your keyboard appears to have stopped working. But then I say the ellipses.
Rather than post an unpunctuated rant in a thread full of rants, start your own thread. Clearly explain the problems you're having. Maybe start with only one or two. I have no doubt but people will be happy to help you. Use proper punctuation.
