Control Center: pre-existing Wallet button doesn’t work after iOS 18 upgrade

after upgrading to iOS 18 I noticed Control Center featured a button with no image. Tapping it didn’t trigger anything. I went into edit mode and enlarged the button, so its label appeared. It turned out to be the Wallet app’s button. I then went to add a new control and chose Wallet from the list. To my surprise I now had two Wallet app buttons! One working that also sported the Wallet icon and one without the icon and that didn’t work.

I guess this is a bug?

If you open Control Center and add a button called "open app" and then select wallet as the app you want to open, it will add the wallet button to the control center.

I had the same problem after updating to iOS18 on iPhone 15PM: my Apple Wallet icon in Control Center did not work and the icon was a blank spot (no wallet on the icon).

I opened the Control Panel, added the Wallet and then edited the Control Panel to remove the old icon with the blank screen.

Editing Control Panel works similar to editing your home screen. Open Control Panel. Press and hold on a blank area in Control Panel. Next, to delete an icon from Control Panel, tap the dash (-) on the upper left corner of the icon you want to remove. It’s fairly intuitive when you start poking around in Control Panel. If you add an icon and don’t see it on Control Panel, swipe up to go to the next page (or tap the dot on the right edge of your screen). Hope my rambling helps someone.
