Can you opt out of purchase sharing if you are not the primary account?

I am an adult member of a family. I am not the primary apple id. Can I opt out or leave purchase sharing without leaving the family?

I just want to be able to buy my own stuff and pay with my own card. I do want to still get the shared apple music, tv, and icloud storage. Other people in the family want to use purchase sharing i.e. the wife and kids.

Is this possible? Is there a better workaround than buying gift cards. I heard that is an option, but I haven't tried it yet.
