Which connectivity options should I choose to get an unlocked IPhone from Apple?

First off, by saying unlocked I mean a phone that I can use with any other service providers outside the US. From what I understand, the last option (Connect to any carrier later) is what I'm looking for but the thing is that it's $30 more expensive than the rest. What I wanna know is - does any of the rest also give you an unlocked iPhone u can use with any service provider outside the US or not? On the bottom of that page it says that all the iPhones purchased from Apple are unlocked, except AT&T. Then why are the rest cheaper than the last option? It's kinda confusing....

No. Each of the rest all require that the phone be activated by the carrier. The phone will be locked to the carrier when it is activated.

Connect to any carrier later is the option that you need to choose.

Then, when/if you choose a U.S. carrier, you will need to make sure that the carrier is not going to lock the phone to their service......typically for 2 years. The carrier may charge you more for monthly service if you want the phone to remain unlocked.

In other words, the U.S. carrier is going to do all that they can to get you tied up to their service for 1-2 years, depending on their current options. If the phone is locked to a U.S. carrier, you won't be able to set up service with any other carrier either in the U.S. or anywhere else until the phone is unlocked.

If you want to use the phone with other carriers outside the U.S., the phone cannot be locked to any carrier.

Now, if you do not live in the U.S. and you plan to spend most of your time in another country, you need to understand that the warranty on a phone purchased in the U.S. is likely not going to be good in another country if the phone requires service.

So, you would want to purchase a phone in the country in which you will be spending most of your time.
