HomePod never successfully connects to HomeKit

HomePod has never successfully connected to my HomeKit. I can't use my iPhone top choose music I want it to play. When prompted to find my iPhone it says it is not on the same network, but it is. I can only ask it to do things which most of the time it won't do.

HomePod mini doesn't recognize accessories HomePod and phone on same network. phone show all accessories in the home. the HomePod keeps saying 'I don't see anything connected in the home'. I've had this for a year and no problems. This just happened last few days. what's going on?

Next would be to try a restore (restore, not reset): Reset HomePod or HomePod mini - Apple Support
