Buying iPhone outside EU to still use Apple Intelligence?

I'm living in the EU, so the new AI functions will not be available on the iPhone 16 which will be sold here. I do however need to make some trips to other countries outside the EU is which AI is supported by Apple. If I would but an iPhone there, would I still be able to use the AI functions in the EU? Do I need to pay attention to certain things?

I think you can buy an iPhone from outside of Europe, as you can use a package forwarder to do it for you.

The phone will know where it is being used, regardless of where it was purchases. So it's highly unlikely buying the phone outside the EU will make AI available to you in the EU.
