Can't import iPhone photos to Mac

What is going on here?? For the past hour I have been trying to import old photos on my iPhone to my macbook and the process has been super glitchy. I connect my phone with the wire, select all new photos to be imported, click "import" and then a tiny bar pops up that DOES. NOT. MOVE. There is a button that says 'stop import' so clearly it must be working, but unless it takes 5 hours, I'm not sure what's going on. This used to be so easy and it's ridiculous that such a simple process is taking forever. Even when I select 3 photos it doesn't work. When I select 1 photo it works sometimes, and other times it doesn't. I want all my photos synced to my library, without iCloud, so how am I supposed to do this? I have the most recent operating system on my phone and MacBook. Please help!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6

That's weird. The first things to try are these:

  • Restart the computer (of course)
  • Re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

  • Make a new user and see if the same problem recurs with it
  • Use another library if you have one, or make a small test Library with a few pictures in it and see if the same thing happens. You can create a new Library by closing Photos and then option-clicking on the Photos icon.
  • Rebuild your Photos Library--close Photos and re-launch by option-command-clicking the app icon.

The idea is to find out if the problem is with the Library, with your account, or with caches and login items, and stuff like that. One of these steps may fix the problem, but their failure to work also helps figure out what's happening.

Let us know what you find....

Not sure of your point-- Photos works fine for me and for most people using a range of OSs. Sometimes a glitch occurs, and some of try to help out.
