Can't import iPhone photos to Mac

That's weird. The first things to try are these:

• Restart the computer (of course)
• Re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this: 

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support 

• Make a new user and see if the same problem recurs with it
• Use another library if you have one, or make a small test Library with a few pictures in it and see if the same thing happens. You can create a new Library by closing Photos and then option-clicking on the Photos icon.
• Rebuild your Photos Library--close Photos and re-launch by option-command-clicking the app icon.

The idea is to find out if the problem is with the Library, with your account, or with caches and login items, and stuff like that. One of these steps may fix the problem, but their failure to work also helps figure out what's happening.

Exact same problem here. I've got an iPhone SE 2 running iOS 17.4.1, and a MacBook Pro running Sonoma 14.6.1. Photos is version 9.0. There's no error message. Doesn't matter if I select 1 photo or 1000 photos. The "import" just sits there, pining for the fjords.

Here's my solution: I've got an older MacBook running Monterrey 12.7.5, Photos version 7.0. Works perfectly there. Obviously that won't be an appropriate solution for most folks, but it suggests that something got lost on the road to Sonoma.

Not sure of your point-- Photos works fine for me and for most people using a range of OSs. Sometimes a glitch occurs, and some of try to help out.

I'm just sharing information that may be helpful to some. If it's not helpful, feel free to ignore.
