VERY slow iTunes on brand new MacBook

Hi, I've recently purchased a nice spangly new MacBook pro and it's great, however, iTunes takes an age to do anything.

A folder of 12 mp3's (so no converting to be done) is currently processing track #4 after 15 minutes. My old 2014 iMac would have had them imported in a minute or two.

Anyone else having these problems?

14" MacBook Pro 2023 running latest Sonoma with 24gb Ram
