Having issues with FaceTime

I was having issues again with FaceTime today. It did not appear to be connecting. My boyfriend said that he was unable to see me. After a few minutes of digging, I discovered the Front-Camera in the Camera Settings was toggled off. Once I turned it on, he could see me. I'm not turning it off. What else could be happening?
