Child iPad always asking for Apple ID verification/password/passcode when downloading apps/permission granted
Hello,
My child is 6. I got him an iPad and set up all screen time controls etc, however whenever he wants to download an app (free or paid) it asks for the iPad passcode, which is fine. It then asks for it a second time and then asks permission. I give permission then it asks him to sign into his Apple ID. As he is a child and accounts changes on Account in screen time is set to ‘don’t allow’, he cannot do this and so it gets stuck on a loop unless I change the account changes setting to allow him access to make changes to his iCloud account. Of course, I do not want to allow him to make any changes or access that information.
I don’t mind him having to enter his passcode twice, or even asking permission for age appropriate free apps (although ridiculous that it can’t differentiate free and paid age appropriate apps), but I do not want it to keep requesting he enters his password after I’ve approved the download as when this happens, it takes him back to his settings and nothing happens. Then we are stuck in a loop of not being able to download anything until I reboot the iPad.
Apple told me via the phone that at the moment, the only work around for this is to ‘Allow’ changes to Accounts on his profile, which of course isn’t ideal and not ideal to keep allowing each time he downloads an app.
any help appreciated ☺️
