How to Stop Google signin popups

I am finding innumerable "Sign In With Google" Popups on any site that requires a sign-in. This is on iOS Monterrey and is independent of the browser as well as on my iPhone. The instructions I have found on-line no longer work as Google only allows you to turn it off on Android. I have searched and tried a number of things, but the popups continue. This occurs using any browser and not just Chrome. And it occurs whether nor not I am signed into Google.

Has anyone found solutions that work now? Thanks.

Your understanding is 100% correct.

Strictly speaking not even Google can do anything about it. It's an API that they developed and made available to whoever wants it, for whatever purpose that might be... which is usually 💰... but they certainly can't stop websites from incorporating it if that's what they want to do.

By the same token Apple can't do anything about it either. Apple has their own, equivalent "sign in with Apple" API that website developers can choose to implement just as easily, yet for some reason nobody complains about it. I wonder why 🙄

Exactly. They're frankly desperate to have people use that (unwelcome, intrusive) "feature", and it shows. It's "in your face" annoying. Of course that's my opinion, but it seems to be a rather common one.

Since websites also rely upon $$ for their existence they are unlikely to accede to its removal. Our only recourse is to boycott those sites... and tell them why.

All websites cost money but Apple Support Communities is one of very few that don't rely upon advertising and other annoyingly intrusive schemes to support it. Running this site can't be cheap, but we already bought some Apple stuff, they already made their money, and they have lots of other ways of persuading us to spend more. Their respective business models couldn't be more different.
