I purchased an iMac then returned it a week later. The return shows on card balance but has not been removed from monthly installment balance.

Are you looking at your statement of July or August? I don’t know of anyone that has received their August statement. It’s usually available the first or second of the month. I suspect this months statements may be delayed because of the holiday.
The information in the Apple Card in your Wallet is the most current. Basically, it means Goldman Sachs has given you a provisional credit via the app, but has not physically received the return of funds from Apple. ACMI plans seem to update slower than other regular charges, possibly because they only update once a month.
I received my August statement today and that is what I’m looking at.
