When I import audio into iMovie it won't play and is really buggy

In iMovie on iOS, I put some audio into it from Music and it didn't play when I tried playing it. I moved it to foreground to try and resolve the issue but it changed the song (which is 21 minutes long, by the way) to an infinitesimally small audio clip which is completely silent. I have tried this multiple times and of course this is the only thing that happens. My phone is on the latest version of iOS (I double-checked.) How do I fix this glaring issue?
