downtime doesn’t reapply after phone reboot to active app

We all know there is a lag for Downtime to reapply after a phone reboot. And this is what my kids do to reactive the “one more minute” feature after using it up.

Recently, they discovered that Downtime never reapplies if the app is opened before downtime takes effect. This allows them to use the app indefinitely as long as they do not switch apps.

they are using an iPhone XS and an iPhone 12 mini with updated software.

any known fixes?
