Time capsule replacement

My old Time Capsule router/BU Harddrive died years ago. I just got a new Mac and would like to get a BU harddrive. Not a techie so I see the portable hard drives on the Apple site and if I was to get one of them would I just plug into USBC ports and would it run like my old Time Capsule did or what would I have to do so it worked like before.

Cannot find disk for Time Machine setup I bought a LaCie 2TB disk as an external drive for my Time Machine backup disc. Have done it numerous times on my other machine, but when I try to find a disc in the Time Machine window, all that is available is an 'other AirPort Time Capsule,' which I don't have. Clean and install Time Capsule My Time Capsule no longer recognizes my MacBook. I would like to stay with TC even though it is discontinued. It worked flawlessly up till now. I used an old MacBook while my newer one was getting fixed with Apple dealer and think that's where the problem began. Is it possible to do a Clean and Install with Time Capsule? Searching for a Portable external Hard Drive that is Compatible with Ventura! I purchased a new Mac Mini in April 2023 and up until the latest software update, late July 2023 , now Ventura 13.5 I had NO problems with Time Machine successfully backing up my Mini. Everything went bell up and have exhausted all trouble shooting efforts that I could find (i.e., dish utility, reformat, restore, erase and try back up again, etc. etc. etc.). Nothing has worked. I am in search of a portable external hard drive around 1 TB max at a reasonable price that will actually work with MAC Ventura. Does anyone have experience, knowledge and success with a portable hard drive using Time Machine that will work withVentura 13.0or higher?
