Number claiming to be apple

i’m getting calls from (512) 526-**** asking me to confirm my apple order, but it said nothing in my order confirmation email about needing to confirm via a phone call

The Caller ID may appear to be a legitimate number, but that does not prove that the person on the other end of the line is actually calling from that number. The call might be from a scammer who was clever enough to use a real Apple phone number as their disguise.


You could try checking the status of your order online, or contacting Apple using the "Ask a Specialist" link on the Apple Store page.

I have confirmed that 512-526-5284 is a call back number for the Apple Campus in Austin, TX.


In general though, Apple’s Official number is 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273), never trust unsolicited or suspicious calls from anyone claiming to be Apple, just hang up.


You can report scam phone calls to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
