Apple Watch gyroscope not working after update
Apple Watch Series 5 user. The last couple of watchOS updates seemed to disable the gyroscope on the watch and it no longer tracked workouts or woke to raise-to-wake.
Diagnosis at Apple (both online as well as service center) called out ‘multiple hardware failure’ and a replacement was recommended as the only solution.
To set context, humidity where I live and workout, is currently at 90% and above. It occurred to me to try and drain the watch fully of juice and let it ‘dry out’ for 48 hours. Logic - maybe a thin film of moisture could have found its way on the circuitry inside.
Result - worked! The watch is back in action. And this, after I had tried all suggestions including a full reset, without results.
So, if nothing else works, just run out the battery, give it a couple of days and power back on after partial charging. It should work.
