Stop iCal from autofill events

How can I stop ical from suggesting past events when I am adding a current event with the same name? New event has new details and I don’t want the past events and many of them show up.

I notice this question has been asked before. Please don’t tell me the solution is to delete all my past events on my calendar. They are needed for record keeping, as I imagine is the case for many people.

There must be an option to turn off past event auto fill somewhere.

To be clear, I’m not talking about Siri suggestions to add an event from my email, I’m speaking of when I add an event with the same name as an event(s) prior (which I do all the time and which the details are different each time), the system pops up a whole multitude of past events to auto fill with. I would like to either turn this function off or clear the cache memory and start fresh.

This is very annoying the way it is and it shouldn’t be annoying to use my calendar.
