..SleepyHappy..

A 'DIY' effort has often been the case to answers in ASC.

An approximate workable reply was in footer of links given.

Add a bookmark folder in Safari on Mac

You can organize bookmarks into folders in the Safari sidebar.

1) In the Safari app on your Mac, click the Sidebar button in the toolbar, then click Bookmarks.

2) Control-click in the sidebar, then choose New Folder.

3) Enter a folder name. To change the name, Control-click

the folder, then choose Rename.

4) Drag the folder to the location you want.

You may open the browser & enter custom features at will.

Perhaps you need a taxidermist, once I nailed it in place?

Or not. I only volunteer part-time without compensation here.

Sorry if you expect a dash of custom with side-order of service.

.Sometimes to better perfection ~ since May 2003 part-time.

..Thank you for name-calling • it felt so rewarding..

Hope you felt better! Roll your own, I wasn't Rude.

However my Macs have thousands of bookmarks.

  1. With Safari open (in Sonoma), click on the Bookmarks menu at the top of the screen,
  2. then click on Edit Bookmarks.
  3. select the Favorites section, and expand it using the ">" next to it. (must be expanded to create the folder inside it)
  4. then click on the "New Folder" button at the top right of the page.
  5. name the folder anything you want.
  6. hit enter to complete the process.

A new folder should appear in the Favorites page.

Perhaps become familiar with the Safari User Guide for Mac

that is an Apple Support feature; some versions of macOS

included this inside their system's help library.

Safari User Guide for Mac - Apple Support (sonoma)

//support.apple.com/guide/safari/welcome/mac

Also includes more complete version, inside "Table of Contents"

Safari User Guide for Mac - (Table of Contents) Apple Support

//support.apple.com/guide/safari/toc

While I could read through, your version macOS is much newer

than that which I can afford; my Macs are too old for new OS.

And so you can use the practice of learning Support references.

Thank you Phil0124 in locating what was evident in a search..

Like those in first page of this dynamic Support result page.

"add folder to favorites" -- in 32+ flavors!

..SleepyHappy: can carefully doze & sit back, galley slaves at

the fore; whip any who step head & try firsthand to reply here.

Guess you've never ever, even ventured a guess at how deep

water is; without top notch gear to first explore it without ever

getting your feet wet. (That's good.) All the parameters needed

to focus a Search can be added, as the first Support results

page includes; direct from Apple Support. As yours were..

And any computer browser should be able to pull up that, with

an inquisitive mind of at least scientific ability, as mine; that is

no wonder you are still asking questions while I know answers.

Take a rest! ~ Breath, don't turn blue.. (While blue, is nice.)

While I've learned much the world using state of the art search

engines, read books; & use browsers. Don't feel insulted as your

grasp may be shallower than your reach. ~ History of my family

would certainly surprise you; as you fail to look! While we don't.

Thanks for earlier edits, support Community overseers!

While mine can as easily be removed as SleepyHappy's.

..As various rules could be cited; toward that end, too.

Of course, I looked at the Support pages for the information but there is no description for how to create a folder for the Favorites page. Perhaps you should read the support pages to find that out. There is a description for how to create a folder for the Bookmarks but not for the Favorites page. There are descriptions for how to rename a favorites folder but not for how to create one in the first place.

If someone can provide an answer, that would be helpful.

As you stated, you don't use Sonoma (so sorry you say it is because you can't afford a computer that uses it--that isn't my problem) so you shouldn't try to answer a question about Sonoma if you don't know anything about it and can't read the support page information to see if there is an answer to the question. Read the question carefully.

The links provided do NOT supply information for how to add a folder to the FAVORITES page. They only talk about the Bookmarks. The question is NOT about the Bookmarks. The question is about creating a folder on the FAVORITES page.

Unvolunteer yourself it you don't know how to respond with the correct answer and let someone who does know the answer respond to the question.
