Sometimes iMovie preferences can get corrupted. Try deleting/resetting preferences and see if that resolves it.
To delete/reset preferences open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete
preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new empty library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if the problem with transferring edits is resolved. Possibly you may need to reboot to set the changes. Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

I am sort of stuck on the above problem with Photos and iMovie applications. As I have not got any reply so far, is it that no one is facing this problem or is there any other forum on iMovie which I should check. Thank you.
