Accessing old iMovie projects

I have a number of iMovie projects created between 2001-2008. How can I open them so that I can convert them to a readable file format? I found an older post featuring a similar problem. It was suggested that the person try control-click on the iDVD .mov file to convert it to something readable. Like the original poster, that didn't work for me. Is there anything else that I can try?
