Icloud private relay not working

This is the second day we have experienced problems with "Private Relay is not available" but I can "use it tomorrow." What an odd error message! I have also noticed that embedded images in email on my Mac OS Apple Mail client are not displaying but are replaced by a generic icon. Even in old emails that previously displayed embedded images. I assume this has something to do with the Private Relay service being "not available". Safari works sporadically. Yesterday Safari was unable to connect to any web server for a few minutes, then it began connecting. Now the OS interrupts with alerts that Private Relay is not available.

It seems to be effecting some people and not oithers. As of  7:13 AM Pacific Daylight Time it was still not functioning correctly. Apple - Support - System Status

I just had the same problem on MacAirBook. iPhone and iPad were fine. No one else had this problem. I turned Safari off and on. Nothing.

I shut laptop down, unplugged, and let sit for 15 minutes and then rebooted. Safari is back and message has disappeared. I realized that I updated my operating system on Friday evening and that’s when the problem began. Hope this helps
