Imovie App Deleted after factory reset of laptop - causing my iMovie assignment to delete, how can I recover it?

The iMovie app deleted after apple did a factory reset to see if my battery would improve (it did) and after this I went back to iMovie to retrieve my assignment and it is no longer there and I have had no luck when trying to retrieve it. Can you please provide me with a possible solution that may allow me to retrieve this file?
