Audio echo effect when exporting iMovie clips

I'd editing some videos on my MacBook in iMovie. The audio sounds fine when listening within iMovie during the edit, but as soon as I export it there is some echo and reverb to the audio. The problem is consistent with multiple videos and export settings. The current export settings I am using are format audio and video, resolution 1080p 60fps, quality high (I have tried pro res as well, same issue), compress better quality. If anyone has had a similar issue or a solution it would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Try converting the exported clip with the free download, Handbrake.

Convert the clip to H.264, Mp4/AAC with Handbrake. Do that even if the codec already is indicated to be Mp4/AAC. Re-rendering often cures issues.

You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to

complete. Then save and see if the echo issue is resolved.
