How to I add a title clip before the first video clip? I don't want to overlay the title on the first clip.

Rich, thanks for your reply. What I learned from a friend was that I needed to pull the title block down in front of the clip, not leave it up on top of the clip. Seems obvious now, but it wasn’t to this first-time user of iMovie.
Drag the title clip to the timeline and it should sqeeze right in.
