Voice memos.app + external mic and audio interface = only left channel

Hi,

as in the title, I have Focusrite 4i4 3rd gen plugged into my MacBook Pro (M3 Pro, Sonoma 14.5) when I hit record in the Voice memos.app (or QuickTime) recorded audio turns out to be only the left channel (input 1 in the audio interface) or the right channel (when I switch the mic to input 2). It seems as a stereo-mono problem with the software.

Avoiding questions:

the internal MacBook mic works just fine
my external microphone also works fine almost everywhere else (messenger voice messages have the same issue as the Voice memo.app but somehow calls don't)
everything is connected and set correctly

I hope it can be solved...

Not gonna even mention Discord.app issue with the external audio interface and microphone :(
