How to remove the AP Extended Audio Driver

I seem to have found at least one solution to removing the AP Audio Extended Driver from a Mac.

  • Look for the HAL folder: In the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL folder, you may find devices that don’t remove when you try to do so using the Audio MIDI Setup app. Virtual audio devices often live here, such as Sessionwire or Telestream.

  • Delete the device folder: To remove a device, delete the folder containing the content for the device you want to remove. Empty the trash can and then restart your Mac.

Using these steps, I deleted the driver that kept selecting itself as the prime audio source on my computer after boot.
