Persistent horizontal lines appear on iMac screen

I have been having the same issue and a huge vertical lines started appearing while I'm working. Note that I never dropped, neither change my office position.

I purchased this iMac M1 on July 12, 2021, and it has been an absolute joy to use until recently. On July 8, 2023, while immersed in my work, persistent horizontal lines suddenly materialized on my iMac's screen. These lines have severely impacted my ability to use my computer effectively. In an attempt to diagnose the issue, I connected an external display, and thankfully, it functions flawlessly, confirming that the problem lies within my iMac's internal display. I also reinstalled the operating system and refrained from using the computer for two days, but to no avail. :(

The prospect of a costly screen replacement is OMG so expensive, especially given the uncertainty that it will permanently resolve the issue.

Any luck?

it sounds like a display connector being lose or damaged by heat maybe if it is just a lose connector now I don't really now what apples documentation says but they met require a full display replacement if you believe in yourself that youcan do it with out coding damage go for it and reseat the display connector and see if there are any damage that may be caused by heat or maybe even small bugs they might make there way in and die with the heat of the computer it heppens a lot with older games consoles or bring it to a 3rd party If apple requires a whole display replacement getting a 2nd opinion in this situation could save a lot of money and sometimes even time
