My home pod skips while streaming music.

While streaming music through Spotify or Pandora, my home pod consistently starts skipping after a minute or two. I have tried stopping and starting songs and restarting the home pod with no improvement. Other wireless bluetooth speakers work just fine in our house. Why would a much more expensive system not work better?
