Stage manager not maximizing new windows

I'm using a stage manager on Sonoma 14.5 and as soon as I open a new window, it opens with a small margin on left and right side. Before I enabled stage manager, windows opened with full width. I don't want to maximize each new window manually all the time.


I searched for the issue on the internet and the only good solution seemed like using this script (found on reddit):

defaults write com.apple.WindowManager StageFrameMinimumHorizontalInset -int 0

I didn't try this script, instead I want to know why Apple users are forced to use custom scripts when there's an obvious bug with the new features. I'm new to Apple, but if someone knows "better way" of fixing this rather than a "custom workaround", please let me know.


In this screenshot, you can see small gap on the left and right side which tells that window is not maximized:
