iPod Classic won’t allow me to restore or connect to Finder/iTunes error 1675 computer freezes.

I bought an iPod Classic 6th generation 2nd hand to restore for personal us, but when I connect the device to my Mac (MacOS Sonoma) the iPod says it is connected, but it is not detected by the computer and only charges.

When I try to run applications on the Mac, (including Disk Utility), they will freeze until I disconnect the iPod from the computer.

Attempting to restore the device gives me the “1675 error” saying the device was detected but couldn’t be identified.

I have also tried this on iTunes on Windows and the same thing happens.

The iPod runs through its internal operating system just fine and does not crash but it reads the storage wrong.

Here are the iPod’s hard drive statistics:

Retracts: 50

Reallocs: 0

Pending Sectors: 3

PowerOn Hours: 302

Start/Stops: 279

Temp: Current 26C

Temp: Min 9C

Temp: Max 48C

I feel that this device can be saved so if there are any solutions, I would gladly appreciate it.
