4K why must you mock me so?

I am close to throwing my Macbook air M1 in the sea!

I have made plenty of iMovies before at 4k (despite the nonsense condition of having to put a 4k clip up front on the timeline)

However today I just cannot get my 4k footage to be recognised by my Mac. The footage is taken on a Samsung S23 Ultra at 4k 60fps (I have not had this problem previously)

Can some kind soul save my sanity & my Mac from a watery grave?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.5

I don't know what is causing the problem.

I believe 4K at 60fps will work but can only be output as 30fps.

All I can suggest is delete the preferences which you should always do when iMovie is behaving strangely.

As you launch iMovie hold down the Option and Command keys until a window appears asking whether you want to delete the preferences.

Click the Delete Preferences button.
