Using a focusrite set up and recently, without knowingly changing any settings, the recording of tracks using this set up has been impacted. While I can add a track and record, the microphone doesn't seem to pick up the sound cleanly or consistently and that's reflected in the playback. Reaching out to see if this might be a garageband issue or focusrite issue.

I have the same config
a scarlet solo, mic rode nt-1
when I record some higher tones from my female singer are cut off, this in both standard and voice isolation setting
How can I fix this?

Do you have any other equalization turned on?
Does it happen in Audacity?
(Audacity is a free audio editor that is a good adjunct/backup to GB)
